Touchstone Energy “Achievement” Scholarship
Touchstone Energy offers a “Achievement” Scholarship to high school seniors who are the son or daughter of a Washington Electric Cooperative consumer. The applicant must have at least a 2.75 GPA. A letter of recommendation from an independent sponsor (school representative, church or community leader, etc.) is required. This letter must explain how the applicant’s character has played a role in enabling him/her to succeed. Character traits such as integrity, innovation and accountability should be mentioned and specific situations that show these traits are encouraged. A letter of nomination is required from a second sponsor outlining the nominee’s life experiences and traits that demonstrate determination in the face of adversity and/or commitment to community.

Keshia Mihalik, a senior at Shenandoah High School,is the 2008 winner of the local competition at Washington Electric Cooperative and received a $500 scholarship.

The applications for this scholarship program are available each February at the local high school guidance offices and the Cooperative office at 406 Colegate Dr. in Marietta.
